Chris Henderson Rejoins Agency as "Hybrid" Creative Director
Chris Henderson has returned home to the place where he was instrumental as architect for seven years. Prior to his homecoming, Henderson helped open and manage the first United States office of BBDO Proximity (also in Minneapolis), and worked to redefine the digital creative presence at Colle+McVoy.
In his new post at Olson, Henderson will take on something of a hybrid role, leading the charge on select digital accounts, assisting in business development, and helping the agency drive the final nail in the coffin of the traditional art director/copywriter team by connecting creative resources that reflect Olson's signature holistic model.
"Chris is a very special talent, with DNA that matches Olson perfectly, both in terms of concept and culture," says Tom Fugleberg, Olson's executive creative director. "He's fueled by optimism, is a next-generation thinker, and has a profound understanding of what it takes for us to live to our brand community-building mission. We have a brother, and a silver bullet, back."
Henderson first joined Olson in 2000 as interactive creative director. He spent seven years building its interactive offering. During that time, he helped Olson to be recognized by its peers in Communication Arts, AIGA, the One Club, the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association's RAC Awards, and the American Marketing Association's EFFIE Awards, to name a few.
"I grew up at this place," says Henderson. "It's amazing to be back and meet a whole new generation of folks who think like I do. The passion is still here only the scale is much greater. I couldn't resist the opportunity to return."
As for Olson CEO John Olson, he has a slightly different take on why Henderson returned to the agency. "Chris still owes me from a game of 'in between' and this is how he is working off the debt."
