Jonathan Lum: Olson’s New Chief Strategy Officer
Strategist for the finest brands in the world makes his Minneapolis move
Jonathan Lum has joined Olson to head the agency’s brand anthropology, connection planning and media, and analytics teams as Chief Strategy Officer — a new position. He joins from Goodby, Silverstein and Partners in San Francisco, where he was Senior Brand Strategy Director.
Prior to GS&P, Jonathan was Group Planning Director at BBDO NY, and Director of Strategy for Faith Popcorn’s New York-based BrainReserve. He has 16 years of experience as a brand strategist and quantitative research specialist in industries including banking and finance, telecommunication, travel, automotive, packaged goods, and pharmaceuticals; and his shelves are full of industry recognition including a Cannes Lion, Effies and the ARF David Ogilvy Award. He began his advertising career at Young & Rubicam in Sydney, Australia.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of an agency that truly does start with a big idea and is able to flawlessly execute it through any given channel,” says Jonathan Lum, Olson’s new Chief Strategy Officer. “Olson potently combines the agency’s disciplines as one team. But, more importantly, they’re a refreshingly genuine and hugely talented group of people.”
“We’ve hired Jonathan to ground Olson’s idea generation and marketing campaign output in sound strategy and to inspire creative and inventive insights and unexpected solutions at all points in the strategy development process,” says Kevin DiLorenzo, CEO, Olson. “Also, we’ve brought him in to help us understand and enjoy Vegemite as part of a complete and balanced breakfast.”
